The owners of a multi-million dollar new home on the Sydney Harbour waterfront at Point Piper have installed new E-Therm insulation for the ceiling areas of the home.

The specification called for fibre free, high performance insulation to be applied in every room to minimise energy usage in the air-conditioned environment.

Using self adhesive E-Pin spacers, the E-Therm insulation sheeting is suspended with a 50mm reflective airspace under the slab providing a R2.5 rating on the ceiling.

Wayne Japp, the contractor installing the material, commented on the ease of installation, even with existing ceiling grid, cabling and ventilation ducting to work around.

“It’s so easy to use, no special safety gear required, very easy to cut around fixtures, and no itchy fibre to irritate me all day,” he says.

E-Therm is a space-saving, semi-rigid insulation that is only 8mm thick. It is made from 100 per cent recyclable LDPE foam with a metallic facing both sides and is applied to concrete, steel or timber surface using rapid fix fastening systems developed especially for E-Therm by Thermotec .
