Art Deco Hotel Montana, a four-star superior hotel in Lucerne, Switzerland has installed a reliable fire detection system based on Siemens’ ASAtechnology to keep their guests safe.

Opened in 1910, the hotel offers a panoramic view of Lake Lucerne and draws about 25,000 guests every year. Additionally, Hotel Montana is also known as an important cultural centre in the city of Lucerne, with weekly jazz and blues jam sessions held for over 20 years at their Louis Bar. With 15 Gault&Millau points, the hotel restaurant is also a renowned venue where star chef Johan Breedijk has opened Kitchen Club, a unique open kitchen concept that allows guests to interact with the chefs and gain insights into their work.

Committed to keeping their guests safe with the latest fire protection technology, Hotel Montana sought a solution that could be continuously modernised without disrupting business operations. The hotel’s open kitchen, which puts special demands on fire protection, requires fire detectors that can provide optimum protection for guests and staff in the harsh kitchen environment without causing false alarms. The fire protection solution also needed to cover a staff house and an associated hotel management school in the immediate vicinity.

Hotel Montana is equipped with an AlgoRex fire control panel, 250 Sinteso fire detectors and 250 fire detectors from older generations. Thanks to forward and backward-compatible fire protection products from Siemens, partial modernisation can be carried out. For example, the latest Sinteso fire detectors with ASAtechnology are currently controlled by an older-generation control panel from AlgoRex. The fire detectors of individual hotel parts or floors are also from different generations and can be replaced at different times.

The kitchen features 25 Sinteso fire detectors with ASAtechnology, increasing safety for guests, employees and property through reliable detection. The ASAtechnology is extremely reliable in detecting real fires, while preventing false alarms caused by deceptive phenomena such as steam.

The fire control panel monitors the fire detectors of the three buildings and is located at the hotel reception – manned 24 hours a day.

All the fire protection equipment and systems were installed in a phased manner to avoid disruption to everyday operations.
