Bovis Lend Lease has been appointed by Brisbane Airport Corporation Limited (BACL) as the lead contractor responsible for the $250 million upgrade of the airport’s International Terminal.

The project includes lengthening the existing terminal by 60 meters, adding 250 meters of concourse, creating two gate positions to accommodate future A380 flights, expanding the retail tenancies and commercial space, and upgrading and expanding immigration and customs areas to increase their passenger processing capacity.

Murray Coleman, CEO of Bovis Lend Lease Asia Pacific, says the BACL contract meant the company will have been responsible for almost $1 billion in airport infrastructure work in Australia.

Bovis Lend Lease’s airport experience stretches across the globe, having worked on airports in Munich and Dresden (Germany), Sheremetyevo (Russia), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Macau (Hong Kong), and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

“Bovis Lend Lease is a world leader in airport planning, design and construction. Over the past decade, the company has been involved in more than 50 airport and aviation-related projects around the globe,” Coleman says.

In Australia, Bovis Lend Lease delivered the $250 million Qantas Domestic Terminal at Sydney Airport, the $550 million expansion and upgrade of the International Terminal at Sydney Airport, and the initial $220 million Brisbane International Terminal works. Bovis Lend Lease has commenced design work for the terminal with construction scheduled to start in the second quarter of next year.
