Konecranes South East Asia Pacific offers an innovative overhead crane maintenance diagnostic tool designed to accurately measure the straightness, elevation, rail-to-rail elevation, and span of the rails. Konecranes SE Asia Pacific is an integral part of the Konecranes group that globally has over 430,000 cranes under maintenance contract.

Specifically developed to provide faster, safer, and more accurate analysis than any other type of rail survey available worldwide for overhead cranes, Konecranes’ unique RailQ alignment survey technology accurately measures rail alignment, reduces undue wear, and helps users better plan maintenance and repairs in busy warehouses, ports and manufacturing facilities.

Integrating highly precise and state-of-the-art survey techniques with Konecranes-specific software, RailQ delivers a precise, reliable runway analysis cost-effectively for any rail system and for all makes and models of cranes, in a fraction of the time required for traditional rail surveys.

Mr John Bailey, General Manager, Service Development, Konecranes SE Asia Pacific cautions that alignment defects can be overlooked or left undetected both by crane owners/operators as well as service companies, often at significant cost. Even if slightly out of alignment, the rail can cause significant wear and reduce the design life and efficiency.

Mr Bailey explains that companies have historically neglected runway surveys since the rails are analysed using manual tools, often requiring the crane to be out of action for a full day. RailQ combines a remotely operated robot with visual inspection to give precise results in far less time than traditional surveys.

The RailQ solution comprises of highly accurate laser measuring equipment, a methodology developed by Konecranes, and the company’s own proprietary data analysis and reporting software (KC Trail). As soon as the survey is completed, a three-dimensional image of the runway/rail system is provided to the customer with a special 3D viewer that allows the geometry to be examined in dynamic three-dimensional form.

Mr Bailey adds that the accurate data provided by RailQ helps increase crane safety and crane performance.
