A heliostat lighting system from Kennovations Product Design and Engineering is helping a popular beer brand bring sunshine to its consumers as part of a unique experiential campaign.

Corona Extra, a popular beer brand is owned globally by Anheuser-Busch InBev. A new marketing campaign, envisaged and executed by Canadian advertising agency Zulu Alpha Kilo for A-B InBev, sought to bring sunshine to the brand’s consumers in line with the theme ‘Find your beach’. A Corona Heliostat Sun Beam delivery truck was used as the vehicle to bring this message home to customers.

Carrying the promise of delivering warm sunshine wherever its customers are, the Corona Sun Beam truck features an articulated boom fitted with a custom mirror that reflects light and radiates warmth to outdoor beer gardens and patios in major city locations.

A-B InBev needed a specialist in sun technology to assist with the design and implementation of the marketing campaign. Having previously developed the heliostat lighting system for One Central Park, Sydney, and with their expertise in executing large experiential marketing builds, Kennovations was identified as the perfect partner to assist with the exciting project.

Kennovations General Manager, Tim Phillips explains that the client was particular about the technical aspects of the project. Kennovations’ design experience enabled it to minimise risk and manage performance for the client.

Though separated geographically, Kennovations was able to provide advice on the precise mirror location so that the reflector would provide sufficient lighting to make the campaign a success. Google Maps, Google Earth and CAD software were utilised to simulate the height of surrounding buildings, angle of reflection and truck parking positions. Site geometry was also explored to identify opportunities and limitations for each potential site such as existing shading patterns and surrounding architecture.

Kennovations also advised the client during the manufacture of the heliostat including managing key factors such as wind and tight access to sites.
