IronPlanet , an online auction company for used heavy equipment, has announced the date of the company’s first auction in Australia — 14 February 2008. IronPlanet’s initial Australia online auction will feature in excess of 170 items with both low and no reserves.

IronPlanet brings very successful online auction of used heavy equipment to the Australian market,” said IronPlanet Australia Managing Director,  Graeme McPherson. The company will deliver on what is most important to the Australian customers – quick disposition of their equipment, market leading prices, low selling costs, and IronPlanet’s guaranteed inspection reports.

IronPlanet’s IronClad Assurance instills buyers with the confidence that they are looking for when they buy used equipment in an online marketplace. The IronClad Assurance is an all-inclusive inspection report with comprehensive detail with regards to the condition of the equipment. Additionally, IronPlanet will provide Risk Assessments on most items, proving buyers with an indication of how the equipment compares to the broader Occupational Health & Safety Guidelines.

McPherson said, Because the auctions are held online, buyers can participate in the auction across broad geographical boundaries. Buyers will be able to bid on equipment across Australia, New Zealand, and SE Asia in the comfort of their offices.

A detailed list of the equipment to be auctioned is available at the IronPlanet website.  A preliminary sample of the equipment includes: 5 track excavators, 6 mini excavators, 9 wheel loaders. 3 motor scrapers, 4 skid steer loaders, 10 aerial work platforms, 14 compactors, 4 forklifts, 3 graders, 11 light towers, and 21 pieces of traffic control equipment. Equipment to be sold in the auction has come from dealers, contractors and hire and rental companies across Australia.
