An Arabian-themed multipurpose area was created around the swimming pool at the Sofitel Hotel Broadbeach for the privacy of guests and patrons of the five-star hotel.

The hotel sought a solution for creating an aesthetically pleasing outdoor area offering shelter and privacy for guests. The area would also be used for dining and private functions after pool hours. To fit the chosen theme, luxurious cabana tents with flowing curtains were created using the versatile Agora fabric from Innova.

Ideal for diverse outdoor applications, Agora was used to create cabanas with conical canopies designed to withstand inclement weather and exposure to the ocean. Each cabana could accommodate two sunbeds and a coffee table or dining for eight while the curtains were able to withstand strong winds.

The cabana design is compliant with Form 15 engineering covering steel sizes, fabrication and componentry to withstand cyclonic conditions.

Key features include cabana curtains with an aluminium track set and fibre-reinforced glides designed to be opened or closed by guests or staff; base of the curtains against the balustrade set using a steel cable through eyelets to prevent them blowing out; and two sets of tiebacks for the curtains.

The stylish, weatherproof Agora fabric was also used for accessories and scatter cushions on the sun lounges. The installation was executed by the fabricator, Sigtah Commercial Furniture QLD.

The hotel’s poolside area with the cabanas is very popular with guests, and is now in constant use, both during the day and evening.
