The Platinum 120 Aluminium suite from Criterion Industries was selected for the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) in Parkland Drive Southport, QLD.
Installed throughout the hospital for internal glazing and door jambs, Criterion Platinum 120 Aluminium suite was specified for the office and administration areas, intensive care units, surgical and operation theatres, visitor waiting areas, patient wards and X-ray rooms.
Designed by GCUH Architecture comprising of PDT, Silver Thomas Hanley and Hassell Architects, with Lend Lease as the Managing Contractor, the 1.8-billion-dollar Gold Coast University Hospital is physically the largest hospital in the southern hemisphere.
Taking into consideration the high-traffic environment and the need for door and window frames to stand up to the hospital’s busy environment, Criterion’s Platinum 120 partitioning system was selected by the architects as a suitable solution for the application.
Criterion’s Platinum 120 suite
The Platinum 120 suite incorporates 92mm steel studs or 90mm timber studs with 13mm plasterboard on either side. Available in a choice of three glazing options – centre glazed, offset glazed and double glazed – Platinum 120 suite is frequently used in medical applications as a heavy duty partitioning system and also allows the combination of hinged and sliding doors throughout the project. The double glazed option is often used in areas where acoustics is an important factor.
