Connollys Timber & Flooring  have recently completed installing and polishing a spotted gum parquetry dance floor in the Ball Room at Moonee Valley Race Course.

Spotted Gum was chosen for its many attributes, such as:

  • Hardness: Spotted Gum has a Janka rating of 11 and will resist damage that may be caused in softer timbers.
  • Beauty: Spotted Gum is one of the best looking timbers, having many colour tones running through it, this also makes it an easy timber to marry colour schemes as there are often similar tones in paint schemes and furnishing.
  • Slower to move: Spotted Gum has been proven to have a slower uptake and loss of moisture than many other timbers, therefore it is less susceptible to sudden climate changes and less likely to move.
