Leading Australian independent air compressor and power generation company, CAPS Australia has introduced the new Ingersoll Rand D5140 ½-inch drill/driver to its cordless tools line.

John Bishop, Wholesale Product Manager for CAPS Australia explains that the D5140 offers the same durability and high-power performance as other Ingersoll Rand IQV20 Series products, along with the versatility to switch between the drilling and fastening functions in seconds.

Bishop adds the Ingersoll Rand D5140 is engineered to stand up to harsh operating conditions required by Australian technicians.

Ingersoll Rand D5140 cordless drill and driver features an all-metal, single-sleeved locking and ratcheting chuck with carbide inserts to keep the bit from deforming the tool during tough applications. The metal chuck makes it easy for technicians to maintain firm, positive bit retention. The moulded housing completely protects the D5140 from breaking as well as from corrosive fluids and chemicals commonly found in automotive and industrial environments that might affect the life of the unit.

According to Bishop, the cordless D5140 helps technicians complete service and repair jobs faster because they are free from air lines, and can drill and fasten bolts without switching tools. The tool is powerful enough to drill out a broken bolt but has the precision control to fasten a license plate on a car without damaging it.

Key features of the D5140 cordless drills include a 16-position clutch for more control over drilling and fastening applications, user-friendly ergonomic design, patent-pending overmold grip to minimise vibration, lower operator fatigue and one-handed operation. The clutch enables the operator to apply the right speed and pressure to complete tasks without damaging surface areas, allowing the tool’s use on any material including metal, wood or plastic.
