Envisia, a ground-breaking product from Boral has won the prestigious
NSW Environmental Innovation award from Cement Concrete & Aggregates
Australia (CCAA).
The executive general manager for Boral Construction Materials, NSW and
ACT, Greg Price said that the award recognises the company’s significant
commitment to innovation, and also confirms Boral’s position as an innovation
leader in construction materials, developing products that are market leading,
easy to use, and environmentally sustainable.
Created by Boral in Australia using Australian technology and expertise,
Envisia was launched into the NSW market last year. Envisia is made using the state-of-the-art
ZEP technology developed by Boral in Australia as part of an innovative process
that uses less cement in the concrete manufacturing process without impacting
on performance.
Envisia’s characteristics are similar to conventional concrete, allowing
its installation using standard OH&S and placement methods; however, the
concrete delivers superior shrinkage and creep performance as well as lower
levels of embedded carbon with no compromise on early strength and cycle times
when compared to conventional concrete. Envisia meets AS-1379 concrete
standards, making it suitable for commercial, industrial and multi-residential
markets.
Boral Cement’s executive general manager Ross Harper describes the
concrete product as a true game-changer and the most significant change to
Australian cement technology in four decades.
Redmond Lloyd, the co-inventor of the cement technology used to make Envisia,
said he was excited about the recognition of the product as a world-class
innovation for Boral.
