Curving concrete slabs, playful living nooks and sweeping rainforest vistas are just a few of the features of the 2015 Australian House of the Year— a Far North Queensland home by Jesse Bennett Architect.
Jesse Bennett received the accolade for her Planchonella House at 2015 Houses Awards ceremony held Friday 31 July and also received one of the nine category prizes that were awarded as part of the program.
Victoria’s Archier architects also had a successful year, winning the New House under 200sqm category for their Sawmill House Project as well as the Emerging Architecture Practice award, a new addition to the Houses program.
Andrew Maynard Architects was another familiar face to receive more than one award, taking out the House Alteration and Addition over 200sqm prize for their Tower House and the Outdoor category prize for their Cut Paw Paw project.
Breathe Architecture, Brad Swartz, Steffen Welsch and Vokes and Peters also received category prizes.
Twenty-seven projects and four emerging practices were awarded commendations across the nine categories.
