Barker Constructions were commissioned to project manage the construction of a  new cotton gin by RivCott Gin in 2015 at Carrathool in the Riverina region of NSW.

RivCott CEO, Samuel Buster chose  ZEGO ReFORM, a reusable formwork system as the preferred method for building the external walls using the ReFORM 200mm and 300mm concrete core. The 150 Series Domestic HomeFORM was used for the weighbridge project to create a thermally stable office within the gin.

By providing an alternative to precast panels, ZEGO ReFORM helped the client achieve savings on cranage costs, also speeding up the process of casting a reinforced concrete structure while still attached to the foundation slab with a starter bar, which could not be achieved with precast.

ZEGO ReFORM delivered multiple benefits to the cotton gin project. By enabling RivCott Gin to use their own local labour, the ReFORM system ensured continuity of labour on site. The reusability aspect of the system helped reduced the quantity of materials required, leading to substantial cost savings as the maximum number of ReFORM panels required only needed to equal the largest concrete pour of the project. The modular 300mm high panels could be easily adjusted on site to suit requirements while the interconnecting clips allowed for precise location of reinforcement bars and concrete cover.

Additionally, the ZEGO ReFORM system eliminated the need for traditional formwork such as timber whalers, the absence of which allowed for easy inspection prior to pouring.

ZEGO’s 150 Series was used on the weighbridge offices including the weighbridge and truck drivers’ restroom. The insulation and sound reduction qualities of the ZEGO ICF system maintained temperature control and prevented sound transmission.
