TigerTurf  have been awarded the contract and commenced works on the $1million plus development at Mill Park Secondary College for the City of Whittlesea in Melbourne's outer northeast.

The existing site consists of 20,000m² of uncontrolled fill of highly active clay tipped at the site over the last 6-8 years.

The challenge for TigerTurf was to provide a solution to consolidate the fill material to provide a suitable platform for sporting surfaces, to include soccer, AFL and cricket.

In conjunction with consulting engineers and the council, TigerTurf have come up with an innovative solution for the challenging site.

TigerTurf are using tried and tested methods involving, impact rolling, laser guided earth moving equipment and nuclear density testing to monitor the effectiveness of the compaction techniques. The settlement will be monitored by certified surveyors prior to moving onto the next stage.

The project has been funded by the Education Department and drought relief fund and will be used by the College and local clubs. The works are scheduled to complete early 2009.
