The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) recently replaced the security gates installed by the company at the Townsville Railway Station nearly 20 years ago. ATDC was contracted by Queensland Rail to install their folding security gates during a recent upgrade at the Townsville Railway Station, where the existing gates were replaced to not only enhance the qualities of this heritage listed government building but also to ensure the free movement of people in the public space.

ATDC’s pivoting S07 folding security gates were selected for the station’s upgrade as they met all the aesthetic and functional requirements of the project. Similar in appearance to the old style gates, which were previously used in lifts and elevators, the S07 gates were powder coated in a heritage green finish to match the ornate wrought iron steelwork suspended directly above it.

The new security gates were also designed to hinge aside 90 degrees away from the opening, thereby maximising the free flow of public foot traffic through the entries and exits of the railway station. People flow was additionally aided by the absence of floor tracking in the gate’s design. Key features of the S07 folding security gates also include triple contact point locking, and a 10-year installation warranty.

ATDC’s range includes gates that comply with Australian Standards for sliding security doors – the only folding security gates in the country that are security standards compliant.

The Australian Trellis Door Company supplies a comprehensive range of cutting edge folding security gates for the commercial, industrial and residential markets.
