Supawood DRIFTWOOD rustic timber lining features in areas of a prize winning office fit-out for the Sydney office of media/marketing consultancy Wunderman Bienalto.

Bold Collective, the designers, were given a brief to create a vibrant, bright and playful new activity-based workspace which would enhance workplace culture. The 931m² space needed to bring together two company divisions under one roof and be finished from concept to completion in a timeframe of just 3 months.

DRIFTWOOD’s unique weathered character suited the designers’ choice to creatively experiment with materiality and colour. By choosing DRIFTWOOD, lead times were minimal for the specification, supply and install as this slatted product comes prefinished with its own fixing system.

The DRIFTWOOD slats have been used on the ceiling over the reception area which then flows through to an adjoining collaborative workspace behind. The slatted ceiling has been installed in such a way that it visually forms a directional pull to a sweeping view of the city through the large windows at the back of the space.

DRIFTWOOD White was chosen to help utilise the natural light from the large windows, creating an open airy feeling to the area. The look of the ceiling co-ordinates perfectly with the other design elements to achieve a fun and welcoming environment. Lighting and other utilities have been easily integrated in the ceiling.

The greatest challenge for this project was the restrictions from the tight deadline which could have compromised the design outcome. However, by using pre-finished and unique materials like SUPAWOOD’s DRIFTWOOD rustic slatted panels the designers were able to successfully pull it off within the desired timeframe and on budget.
