ANZ Banking Group relocated all of their Melbourne facilities to a central head office in the newly constructed Docklands precinct in 2009. Located on the banks of the Yarra River, the new ANZ headquarters was designed by Hassell.

Seeking to create a unique look for the flooring, the architect conceptualised a design based on a jigsaw puzzle using Flexo Rubber Textures, a custom range of rubber tiles. Additionally, the designer and builder wanted to install a green flooring solution in their 6 Star Green Building in custom rubber colours.

Signature Floors arranged for the waterjet cutting of every tile used in the design, which then had to be assembled like a jigsaw puzzle in a specific sequence. This concept was designed for installation throughout the lift lobby areas, encompassing about 6,000sqm of space.

Since the waterjet cut pieces of rubber tiles in custom PMS colours had to be assembled like a jigsaw puzzle, each piece was numbered to fit into a specific area – a task that demanded clear planning, precision and accuracy.

The client was pleased with the final design outcome and Signature Floorcoverings was able to meet their expectations.
