Shaw Contract Group Australia has introduced a new carpet tile and broadloom collection inspired by the human body’s circadian rhythm.

Based on the internal clockwork of the human body, the new Collective Time carpet collection from Shaw Contract Group takes inspiration from the shifting light in a 24-hour period. Intrigued by the body’s circadian rhythm, the Shaw Contract Group design team used wearable technology to track daily routines throughout the development of the collection and become more mindful of activity levels and sleep/wake cycles.

The metrics created from this personal data served as inspiration for the new carpet tile and broadloom collection.

Shaw Contract Group General Manager Paul McCosker explains that technology meets wellness in the new Collective Time carpet collection, which is designed for healthcare environments and features high-performance Cradle to Cradle materials.

The new Collective Time collection offers three carpet tiles and two broadloom styles; the collection allows designers the flexibility to create a dynamic pattern mix or a more monochromatic space.

The Collective Time collection:

Activity Tile

Featuring a small scale pattern with colour undulating from light to dark emulating the 24-hour light cycle, the Activity carpet tile is available in 8 colours.

Unwind Tile

A medium scale pattern representing movement during intervals of the day, the Unwind tile is available in 8 colours.

Rest Tile

Featuring the largest scale pattern with a soft wash of calm, the Rest tile is available in 16 colours.

Dusk

A small scale, textural broadloom with colour undulating from light to dark emulating the 24-hour light cycle, Dusk is available in 16 colours.

Dawn

Featuring a large scale broadloom pattern based on the charting of activity cycles during the day, Dawn is available in 16 colours.

Designed primarily for high performance environments, the Collective Time carpet collection offers the enhanced ability to resist soiling and prevent acid-based stains.

Manufactured with Eco Solution Q Extreme fibre and EcoWorx tile backing or Ultraloc broadloom backing, Collective Time is Cradle to Cradle Silver Certified, completely recyclable, and manufactured with recycled content. All carpet tile styles featuring Eco Solution Q Extreme fibre and EcoWorx tile backing are GECA certified and achieve a Green Star ‘Level A’ product rating according to the Green Building Council of Australia.

The Collective Time collection is backed by a lifetime commercial warranty, protecting against abrasive wear, static build-up, tuft bind, edge ravel and delamination.
