ShapeShell single skin was utilised to clad the highly organic shape of the ground floor colonnade at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Care Hospital (VCCC) in North Melbourne.

Designed by architecture firm STHDI+MCR, and built by Grocon PCL, the VCCC building features ShapeShell products on its feature facade as well as the colonnade. The ShapeShell single skin material was able to take advantage of the natural strength of the complex curved design of the colonnade.

The use of highly accurate 3D digital manufacturing techniques meant minimal section joins, enabling a seamless monolithic look for the colonnade. The cementitious finish incorporated during manufacture achieves the look and feel of concrete.
