Figr Architecture & Design combined a sophisticated material choice with a clever central courtyard to create a spectacular design outcome for a new home in Templestowe Lower, Victoria.

The imaginative design by the architects includes a central courtyard sitting in the heart of the home with a sheltered outdoor space providing a seamless connection between the outdoor and indoor areas, achieving at once, ample light, open space and an instant sense of privacy and tranquillity. The open plan living and dining areas, the kitchen and almost every room in the house connect visually to this lush green courtyard.

More than the intelligent design, it’s the clever material selection that takes the home to a new level of sophistication. The rich silvertop ash ceiling battens, running throughout the entire communal space and extending to the external canopies, the elongated Krause Emperor bricks in Mid Range Tan, as well as the contrasting white concrete flooring all combine to make the home truly spectacular.

Krause Emperor bricks (380 x 110 x 45mm) from Robertson's Building Products Pty Ltd have been used in both interior and exterior areas of the home. The construction was executed by Grundella Constructions.
