The Central Coasts oldest shopping centre has seen a 15-month, $18 million upgrade, transforming it into the region’s most modern retail destination.

The completion of the main shopping centre is just one of the many upgrades to the area as a part of a 20-year vision for the Central Coasts CBD, with a plan for a $650 million mixed-use urban development spanning across 5.8 hectares.

The centre now has a stunningly bright and open atmosphere due to the increase of natural light alongside the use of natural timber patterns featuring throughout the entire centre.

Specification of Polytec’s Ravine products for ceiling battens, table tops, and wall paneling served as a linking device and helped to give the large spaces a warm, bright and natural feel.

Ceiling innovation

Approximately 6,000 lineal metres of timber ceiling battens form a spectacular feature throughout the interior. The Polytec Steccawood battens provide a warm, rich texture appearance and create strong directional lines that have been contrasted by the use of circular and rectangular ceiling borders.

Specifying polytec’s Steccawood battens balanced the need for a cost-effective solution that was warm, has a high-quality timber texture and was easy to install. The fully wrapped battens and convenient sizing (50mm x 50mm and 50mm x 70mm supplied in 3600mm lengths) made installation a quick and simple process.

Durability demands

A renewal of all wall panels has seen the interior palette go from a dated white and mirror to a modern and durable Soft Walnut in Polytec’s raw embossed wood grain finish, Ravine.  Along with bringing warmth and a natural feel to the interior design, the addition of Polytec’s Soft Walnut Ravine adds an extra benefit of being a highly durable surface which is hard wearing and impact resistant.

The update of the food court has been extended from a 160 to 350 seat area. With durability being of the utmost importance, the dining tables use bold table bases teamed with Polytec Compact laminate tops in Polar White Matt and Natural Oak Ravine.  Being scratch, moisture and impact resistant with high-quality colour properties, Polytec Compact laminate was the ideal choice of material for the high traffic area.
