Uretek resin injecting services can solve cracked brickwork caused by harsh Australian conditions, in particular years of drought and the recent floods. Droughts shrink reactive clays in the ground and flooding leads to soft soils that even wash away in some cases.
Uretek resin injecting services incorporate a unique and environmentally friendly technology invented in Finland 30 years ago. Mainmark’s Gold Coast Area Manager, Colin Pegg, explains, “We use a very strong, structural resin mixture to inject into the ground underneath the footings. The resins mix as they enter the ground. They expand by chemical reaction, creating considerable pressure. We monitor and carefully control the process by laser levellers."“Uretek resins fill any voids under the house. They compact all soft ground and then lift the house back to level."
These resin injecting services were called upon for a modernist Brisbane house, constructed in the ‘60s and ‘70s using a concrete slab footing. The dry conditions were exacerbated by tree roots seeking moisture, so the slab had sunk out of level, causing the brickwork to open up, with some cracks reaching 22 mm in width.
“In this case the whole house was raised and re-levelled in just one day. As mostly happens with this technique, the brickwork closed-up almost completely. The back patio was also re-levelled," says Colin.
