The Atmosphere facade system from Locker Group was specified for the Park Beach Plaza Car Park in Coffs Harbour, NSW. Designed by Reddog Architects and built by Edwards Construction, the car park project presented several challenges during the installation of the facade.

The project brief sought a facade solution that was fast and easy to install, would provide anti-throw and anti-climb characteristics from within the car park, allow natural light and ventilation to meet the Australian Standard requirements, and also offer flexibility for the screens to be moved in the event sections of the car park were converted into retail space in future.

Reddog Architects presented Locker Group’s Atmosphere facade system as a potential solution.

Working with Reddog, and the builder, Edwards Construction, Locker Group supplied and installed three different Atmosphere element profiles, and two different perforation configurations. The facade was powder-coated in five different custom colours to reflect the beachside location of the car park.

The facade had to navigate drain pipes and interface changing floor levels, creating challenges during the installation. Since the car park was fully functioning during the execution period, only minimal space was provided for the installation.

Locker Group delivered the facade panels in individual ‘stacks’ or columns, with each panel labelled according to its position. Installation of the Western facade measuring an area of 900 square metres was carried out within nine days. Locker Group’s team installed the panels onto cables on the ground and then lifted them into place.
