Global insulation specialist Kingspan Insulation has achieved CodeMark certification for a range of their Kooltherm products manufactured at the newly opened facility in Somerton, Victoria.

Kingspan’s manufacturing facility in Somerton is one of the most technically advanced factories of its kind in the world. Commencing full production ahead of its scheduled opening in April, the facility began the rollout of CodeMark products for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Administered by certifiers SAI Global, CodeMark is a product-based certification linked to the National Construction Code (NCC), and considered the building industry’s highest level of product conformance. Kingspan’s products went through a three-part assessment consisting of a desktop audit of literature and performance test reports, a physical quality audit at the factory, and on-site installation audits.

Manufacturers have the option of either agreeing to a specific scope of audit or auditing against all relevant sections of the NCC. In Kingspan’s case, the company chose to be audited against all relevant sections, i.e., Section C – fire resistance and Section J – energy efficiency.

According to Kingspan Insulation Australia’s Managing Director, Scott Gibson, the company wholeheartedly supports the Australian Building Codes Board’s (ABCB) CodeMark scheme. He adds that the CodeMark is a stamp of approval that delivers peace of mind to their customers.

Gibson explained that Kingspan Insulation chose to undergo a comprehensive third party audit of their products because they were confident of their products’ performance and compliance. The first insulation manufacturer to enter the CodeMark Scheme back in 2008, Kingspan will continue to lead the way in insulation compliance.

Marquee Kooltherm product lines such as K10 White Soffit Board, K17 and K18 Insulated Plasterboard, K8 Cavity Board and K5 External Wall Board have all received the CodeMark certification.
