Kath Outhred, Project Manager for EDGE Architectural attended a series of workshops on Passive House at Melbourne University. The workshops were organised as part of the Passive House Conference 2016 event.

A major objective of passive house construction is to ensure a comfortable interior environment in a building without relying on energy use.

The first workshop, Passive House (PH) on Scale examined the requirements for achieving PH certification for a commercial building. The presentation laid out the process for certification including engaging a PH consultant throughout the project to analyse, model and monitor components of the building.

The second workshop, Decarbonising Passive House, focussed on CO2 impact on the environment from passive house construction. The presenter encouraged the audience to think about passive house ideas to reduce energy consumption and apply them to construction materials.
