Sydney’s revitalised Darling Harbour precinct will play host to Australia’s largest annual gathering of architects, designers, building specialists, construction experts, manufacturers and suppliers when DesignBUILD returns to Sydney next 3-5 May.

Over the past few years, DesignBUILD has firmly established itself as an industry nexus, leveraging partnerships with peak industry bodies and new industry alliances to deliver an event that is a true reflection of what industry collaboration can do.

For the first time, DesignBUILD will co-locate with long-term partner, the Australian Institute of Architecture’s National Conference, creating an architectural hub at the new International Convention Centre (ICC), Sydney.

“We’re excited to able to position the products innovations that DesignBUILD brings together alongside the leading thinkers taking part in the Institute’s National Conference, “ said Ali Mead, DesignBUILD Event Manager. “Not only will both DesignBUILD and Conference delegates get a unique perspective of the current state of our industry but also receive unprecedented access to this brand new venue.”

The move to the new ICC also means that the 2017 event will be able to open up new channels to explore the feverish expansion of the Sydney skyline and public infrastructure through comprehensive content and educational partnerships.

DesignBUILD 2017 will see the Sydney launch of DesignBUILD RAW an exciting initiative to showcase the very best of emerging talent, run in partnership with local, leading universities. 2017 will also include the expansion of the Incubator program, which after a successful launch in 2016, will see product innovators vie for complimentary space on the show floor for the chance to be crowned most innovative product by a panel of industry experts.

In reference to the new collaborations, Mead reflects that DesignBUILD is a true realisation of what industry collaboration can do. “It is only through working closely with our partner associations and exhibitors that we have been able to develop projects such as DesignBUILD RAW and Incubator, which we hope to continue to drive innovation and creative thinking in our industry by raising the awareness of the fresh talent coming up through the community.”

DesignBUILD will return to Sydney in 2017 at the brand new International Convention Centre, Sydney, on 3 – 5 May. The 2017 event is already set to be 20% larger than previous year and 40% larger than the award winning 2015 event, the last event held in Sydney.

Entry for DesignBUILD Incubator will be announced in the coming months. For more information on exhibiting or to find out how you can be involved please visit www.designbuildexpo.com.au.
