Engineered hardwood flooring from Big River Group has been installed in GJ Gardner Homes’ Mandalay display home, creating a warm and inviting vibe within the interior space.

Big River’s new generation Armourfloor engineered flooring was selected for the award-winning display home at the new North Harbour development in Burpengary East, Queensland. The Mandalay residence, which won the HIA-CSR Queensland Housing Award for Best Display Home in Brisbane, utilises the warm, unique character and stunning beauty of timber flooring to great effect, highlighting the design objective to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living.

The indoor-outdoor connection is accentuated by the innovative design, which sees separate living zones wrapped around a central outdoor area, maximising natural light and cooling cross-breezes across the spaces, and a stunning alfresco area for entertaining all year round.

Big River Group’s prefinished Australian hardwood engineered flooring in Spotted Gum has been installed throughout the home, setting the design tone for the entire interior. The flooring’s visual appeal combined with its durability and stability makes it a highly favoured choice among builders as well as homeowners.

Armourfloor is created using five layers of Australian eucalypt hardwood sheets bonded together to form a solid, stable floorboard. The sheets have their grain aligned at right-angles to the next, guaranteeing excellent stability between floorboards and reducing the risk of bending and cupping.

Durability was an important consideration for material selection in the Mandalay display home project, given that the North Harbour development was an ideal destination for young families, and the development was located in sunny Queensland.

Armourfloor’s durability and stability make it the ideal flooring option for air-conditioned environments and overheated slabs. Featuring the hardwearing water-based clear coating, Big River’s prefinished flooring comes with a 20-year limited warranty against wear-through under normal residential usage.
