Altro Safety Flooring was the brand of choice for Firkin Crane, a popular dance centre in Cork, Ireland during the upgrade of their facilities.

The 19th century circular building has been run as a cultural centre since the 1980s and now offers an eclectic mix of dance training, workshops and performances covering every aspect of professional dance.

A key objective of the upgrade project at the dance centre was to create the right first impressions when people visited the venue. Firkin Crane’s upgrade scope included the installation of high design Altro Suprema II safety flooring in the entrance lobby.

Firkin Crane Manager, Paul McCarthy explained that the entrance lobby was where people got their first impressions about the centre. The dance centre wanted to convey a vibrant theatrical interior without compromising safety and slip resistance, given that people came in off the street, sometimes with wet shoes.

Altro safety flooring was selected as it met their specifications for a flooring product that integrated both design and functional elements.

Developed by Altro in consultation with customers, architects and colour experts, the range includes an impressive 40 colours. The broad colour palette offers a wide choice for different projects while the sparkle-free finish gives an attractive alternative for front-of-house settings where aesthetics are important.
