GroupGSA has appointed Roberto Timpano as principal of Urban Design, Sydney, who will be responsible for calibrating methodology and services.

As a designer, strategist and advisor with 17-years of experience with the likes of Woods Bagot, DEGW and Foster + Partners, according to his resume, Timpano has worked on wide-ranging transformational city-scale initiatives and interventions around the world; from new cities and townships to the regeneration of urban cores and waterfronts, the design of parks and public space and the planning of tech hubs and universities..

Over the span of his professional career, Timpano says he has worked on projects in some of today's most dynamic and challenging urban contexts including Sydney, Singapore, Shanghai and London.
Some of his projects of national and global significance include The Bays Precinct, Sydney which is recognised as one of the most strategic urban transformations in Australia and the Greenwich Peninsular Masterplan, one of the largest projects in London.

Currently Timpano says that he is focused on understanding broader government strategic policy and its implications in the planning of precincts and cities.

"My aim is to be a leader in providing an integrated urban design service that translates practice- based evidence on innovation and placemaking, to help stakeholders and local leaders better understand their assets, and develop strategies for vibrant and innovative mixed-use districts that build on the intrinsic qualities of their cities," he says.
