According to Victoria’s minister for energy, environment and climate change, Lily D’Ambrosio, offices, hotels and a range of retail establishments are now firmly on the front lines in the fight against climate change.

In light of this, Victoria’s state government is providing $1.76 million in grants to support the owners of a range of commercial buildings to help make their premises more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

Designed to improve a building’s rating and value, NABERS data shows that there are opportunities to improve the performance of Victoria’s commercial building sector and help significantly reduce emissions.

Known as the Better Commercial Buildings initiative, the grants will also help participants implement energy saving improvements, measure their success and facilitate access to further finance options and service providers, all the while taking the uncertainty out of choosing a supplier.

Says minister D’Ambrosio: “Reducing energy costs saves money, improves productivity, and increases the health and wellbeing of workers and the environment.”
