Entries are now open for the Newcastle Architecture Awards held each year to recognise the best new architecture in Newcastle. Organised as part of the Australian Institute of Architects’ National Awards program, the Newcastle Architecture Awards celebrate and honour the work of the region’s architects and their pursuit of design excellence including their collaborations with architects from across NSW. The awards program is open to projects located in the Newcastle region.

Winners of the Newcastle Architecture Awards will progress to the state-level NSW Architecture Awards.

Awards submissions are made via an online entry system, and supplemented with additional entry materials. Entries are required to include a selection of digital images, drawings and plans, also to be submitted online.

The award categories include Public Architecture, Educational Architecture, Residential Architecture – Houses New, Residential Architecture – Houses Alterations and Additions, Residential Architecture – Multiple Housing, Commercial Architecture, Heritage, Interior Architecture, Small Project Architecture, Sustainable Architecture, Colorbond Award for Steel Architecture, and the Newcastle Jury Prize, which is presented to the project making the best overall contribution to Newcastle architecture.
