‘Timber in Design’, a new CPD Design session is being organised by Architeam in Melbourne on 23 March 2017.

The upcoming CPD session will explore new ways of using timber in design, and will look at advances in timber construction, including manufacturing techniques, finishes, fire ratings and treatments. Focussing on practical applications, the CPD will use case studies to bring greater insight into integrating timber in contemporary architectural design, in both commercial and residential projects.

To be presented by Eric Siegers of Timber Hub, and Travis Taylor and Simon White of Multinail, this session will also shed light on the use of prefab timber to successfully achieve a practical and modern aesthetic in residential construction. With the right knowledge of the relevant standards as well as an understanding of the way timbers are joined and utilised, this material can be a great asset to future projects.

Participants in this CPD session can gain an understanding of new timber products and services; comprehend the value of prefab design under the Australian Standard 1684; and learn about the construction processes of timber and the many uses of this material in design elements.
