Architects and interior designers are once again invited to enter their projects in the Design Is…Award competition organised by Shaw Contract Group Australia.

For the 10th consecutive year, the Shaw Contract Group Design Is…Award will celebrate architects and interior designers who have used a Shaw Contract Group product in a project over the past two years.

Participants in the Shaw Contract Group Design Is…Award competition are required to define design through the challenges, processes and results of their projects. Entries will be judged by distinguished members of the design community across all market segments globally.

This year’s program will continue with market awards, with the winners representing the highest calibre within an industry segment. Market award winners will move on to the global awards program and People’s Choice voting later in the year.

Paul McCosker, General Manager of Shaw Contract Group Australia explains that the competition continues to champion design excellence across market segments and around the world. The 2014 challenge saw Melbourne design practice, Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp’s Melton Library and Learning Hub being named a Shaw Contract Group Design Is…Award Global winner in the Government/Civic category.

The design practice competed against 40 market winners selected from 356 entries from 25 countries, and won the award; this was only the second time in the nine years of the Design Is...Awards program that an Australian project had won a global award. Paul McCosker hopes another Australian firm can claim victory again in 2015.

Global winners will be promoted through marketing materials, media channels and an advertisement campaign in leading architecture and design publications.

Two representatives from each winning firm will also receive a trip to NeoCon, the largest commercial interiors show in North America taking place in Chicago in 2016. Winning firms also receive $2,000 to donate to the school or organisation of their choice.

Since 2006, Shaw Contract Group has donated over $98,000 through the Design Is…Award program to support design education and social responsibility, all in the name of the winning firms.

All design projects using Shaw Contract Group, Shaw Hospitality Group and Shaw Hard Surface products, completed between February 2013 and February 2015, are eligible.

Design firms can enter their projects online on the Shaw Contract Group website, until closing on 27th February, 2015.
