A Gold Coast developer is hoping that a gigantic copper dome will help cure its tower’s cultural identity crisis.

The tower may be currently under construction in Carrara’s French Quarter but it takes a curious mix of French and Italian in its name, Bella Vue.

Designed by Gold Coast architecture studio Archidiom, the nine-storey residential development is being topped with a pan-European style, 12.5 metre dome, that weighs more than five tones.

“The structure is a fiberglass base with a copper finish that will age to the green colour of many famous copper domes worldwide,” developer Nifsan chief operating officer, Sean Wardrop, said.
