A new online learning platform has been launched for the benefit of architects, engineers and designers to help them hone their skills in digital design.

Launched by the Institute of Digital Design Australia (IDDA), the digital design online learning platform is customised for the target group and offers over 300 e-learning lessons in digital design software including Revit, Rhino3d, Grasshopper and Python, enabling members to learn at their own pace.

Founder Dr Benjamin Coorey (PhD), a digital design specialist and expert in parametric design techniques, explained that he wanted to leverage his background in teaching digital design to architects and students to develop an online learning platform customised for the industry. Another objective was to make the cutting edge learning program as affordable as possible for students as well as small, large and international architectural firms and universities.

Annual subscriptions to IDDA’s learning platform are available from just $119 AUD, which would allow every designer to have access to a dedicated learning resource for their personal training and development.

Registered architects in Australia can additionally earn formal CPD points with the Australian Institute of Architects. IDDA will provide certification and formal competency points for each course successfully completed and passed by the architect. Larger firms can also support registration upkeep, benchmark staff, incentivise their teams and assess their company’s skill level across multiple studios worldwide.

IDDA’s online learning platform also benefits universities and architecture students. Course directors can now offer unlimited training to their students across all subjects, complete with online exams, bulk user management tools and student support. Recently endorsed by UNSW as “a fantastic success”, the online training platform, according to Coorey, allows lecturers to monitor student progress and exam results in real time, saving them hours in assessment administration.

To celebrate the launch of IDDA.com.au, IDDA is offering all new members a 14-day free trial with the Rhino Essentials course unlocked for everyone to start learning.

As the industry leader in digital design training, IDDA aims to upskill the design profession by offering high quality and affordable learning tools for students, professionals, small and large firms as well as universities.
