The façade of a 1950s house in south-west Germany has been transformed into a giant funhouse mirror as part of a renovation by architect Bernd Zimmermann.

Now known as House wz2, the once typical German house has been re-clad with polished stainless steel panels, turning its exterior façade into a mirror that provides a distorted reflection of the neighbourhood.

Despite not being allowed to change the proportions of the building, the addition of the new facade allowed Zimmermann to change the positions of existing windows and create several large new ones.

Two were added to the roof to form skylights, while another is recessed into one of the side walls.

The home’s interior was also completely converted, with new airspaces and galleries incorporated to connect the different levels and create an open living-structure.
