The 2013 Sydney Architecture Festival (SAF) has released the program details for this year’s event, which will be presented from 1 to 10 November 2013 at various locations across greater Sydney.

Into its seventh year, the Festival is inspired by the curatorial theme of “Your City, Your Community”.

“Our curatorial theme for the 2013 Sydney Architecture Festival is designed to encourage Sydney residents of all ages and backgrounds – along with members of the architecture and design community – to actively engage and interact with their local architecture and built environment,” says Kate Doyle, a committee member for the Festival, as well as Registrar on the NSW Architects Registrations Board.

Over 60 events will be on offer for this year's SAF. This includes guided bicycle, boat and walking architectural tours, architectural talks and symposiums, open houses, public installations, exhibitions, as well as children’s activities.

A key event is Super Sydney, which returns to SAF this year after a successful inaugural run in 2012. Designed to the theme of 'Imagining', it invites Sydney-siders to submit their ideas for special places that could transform the identity of their own individual communities.

A digital exhibition of the 40 most thought-provoking and original submissions will be on display at the Sydney Opera House on 9 November, during a symposium held to discuss the vision Sydney residents have for the future of the city. This event coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House, a notable building that has undeniably transformed the city.

The Festival officially launches on Friday 1 November with a laneway party hosted in and around popular CBD bar Grasshopper to celebrate the growing laneway culture that continues to thrive in the inner city. To mark the Festival launch, a specially commissioned light installation designed by Steensen Varming will be unveiled outside Grasshopper in Temperance Lane.
