Brisbane City Council is expected to green light an $800 million redevelopment of Brisbane’s former Supreme and District Court site.

Located on 304 George Street, the project by Taiwanese-based developer Shayher Group will be one of Brisbane’s largest integrated developments.

Three towers are slated for construction - an 82-storey, 274-metre tall apartment tower, a 32-storey, five star hotel on the corner of Ann Street and North Quay, as well as a 39-storey office tower on the corner of George and Ann streets.

They will be designed by Zenx Architects and DBI Architects.

In addition to the residential hotel and office space plans, the site will transform North Quay into a retail and dining precinct.

Shayher Group has proposed building a large retail shopping mall, which will include a master ballroom and conference facilities, underneath the towers on the first three floors.

According to Lord Mayor of Brisbane Graham Quirk, the development was an economic boon for the city.

“It represents a major $800 million investment which will further drive economic development by creating more than 5000 jobs during construction and internal exposure of Brisbane,” said Quirk.

The site was bought for $63 million in May from the State Government, with the development application submitted to council in early November.

If approved, demolition of the old court buildings is expected to begin in early 2014, and construction to commence from 2015.
