UK-based magazine Building Design has announced its 2013 World Architecture 100 list, with a number of Australian firms making the international ranking of architecture firms by size.

 

Woods Bagot has once again ranked the highest among Australian contenders, at number 17 in the world in terms of size.

Other Australian firms to make the list were Hassell which came in at 30, Cox Architecture which came in at 39 and HBO+EMTB which ranked 42.

US firm Aecom has reclaimed the number one largest firm title after being knocked off last year by Aedas.

The World Architecture 100 top ten firms in the 2013 survey were:

2. Gensler (USA)

3. IBI Group (Canada)

4. Nikken Sekkei (Japan)

5. Aedas (China/UK)

6. Perkins & Will (USA)

7. DP Architects (Singapore)

8. HOK (USA)

9. Samoo Architects & Engineers (South Korea)

10. Foster & Partners (UK)

In sub-categories, Woods Bagot was also listed 6th for consulting, 6th in the office sector and 9th in the retail sector.

Australian firms took out three of the top ten interior design spots with HBO+EMTB coming in at 5th, Hassell 7th and Woods Bagot 8th.

GHD was number one in the infrastructure category, 4th in Middle East region, 2nd in government building and 7th in elderly living.

HBO+EMTB took out 6th spot in infrastructure, 4th in the Central Asia region and 6th in the masterplanning category with Hassell coming in at 9th.

Thomson Adsett was the second highest earner in the elderly living category.

In terms of total earning power in the Australasia region, Hassell came in at number one earning $100.8 million.
