The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) announces the appointment of advocacy specialist Jonathan Cartledge to the role of Senior Manager – Industry and Government Relations. Cartledge joins the GBCA after six years with Consult Australia, most recently as Director of Policy and Government Relations.

The move coincides with the announcement of the GBCA's new strategic plan, which aims to drive a carbon positive industry, foster liveable, sustainable communities and cities, broaden market transformation, and increase regional leadership. It also coincides, according to the GBCA, with the Turnbull Government ramping up its investment in Australian cities, and taking steps to address climate change.

Cartledge has more than 15 years of experience in senior policy, strategy and project management roles, and is reportedly passionate about driving the sustainability agenda in Australia.

Cartledge said that he looked forward to working with the GBCA team and members to bring this vision to policy-makers across government, and ultimately to help realise a more sustainable future for all Australians.

Cartledge will assume his new responsibilities at the GBCA on 19 September.
