The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects has announced the winners of the 2016 Western Australian Architecture Awards.

Celebrating the very best of the state’s open, public and green spaces, the awards recognise the leadership and accomplishments of landscape architects consistently raising the standards for urban design and development in the state.

Awards were given to projects across the categories of WA medal, civic landscape, parks and open space, infrastructure, cultural heritage, tourism, urban design, research, policy and communication, communities, graduate, and people’s choice. The projects promoted quality of design in and around urban environments, and positively impacted the community by realizing the health, social and economic benefits of having green, open and public space in cities.

Projects that received an Award of Excellence or a Landscape Architecture Award at the state level will advance to the national awards later this year. One project will be awarded the best landscape architecture project in Australia.
