Architects, designers, specifiers and students have less than a month to enter the 2014 Dulux Colour Awards and showcase their inspiring and innovative use of colour, with submissions coming to a close on 6 February 2014.

Adding a new dynamic for entrants, it has been announced that two new categories have been added to the Awards program this year.

Commercial Refurbishment and Residential Refurbishment will join the existing seven categories – Commercial Interior, Commercial Exterior, Residential Interior, Multi Residential Interior, Single Residential Exterior, Multi Residential Exterior and Student.

Dulux Colour & Communications Manager, Andrea Lucena-Orr, says there has been a steady amount of entries already received but she expects to see a spike in the next few weeks.

“We usually see an increase in entry submissions after the summer holidays and I’m sure this year will be no different,” she said.

This year’s judging line-up includes Callum Fraser, architect and director of Elenberg Fraser, Geoffrey Carran, contemporary artist, Daimon Downey, musician and entrepreneur, Danial Dalla Riva, designer and director of 6 Hats and UNO, and Claire Sullivan, editor-in-chief of Denizen and Design Folio.

Finalists of the 2014 Dulux Colour Awards will be announced on 27 February, with winners to be announced at a gala function in Melbourne on 27 March.

Winners of each category will win a $1000 cash prize and trophy, save the winner of the student category, who will get a $500 cash prize and trophy. The overall winner (Grand Prix) will win $1500 prize money, as well as a return economy flight and four nights accommodation to attend an international design show.

Going on to its 28th year, the Awards aim to recognise the imaginative use of colour by architects and interior designers in redefining the spaces they create. In 2014, entry submissions that explore how colour complements structure and form are welcomed.
