The 2013 City Design Awards are calling for entries, which will close on 1 August 2013.

Created by social enterprise design100, the Awards will be presented in Melbourne (Melbourne Design Awards), Sydney (Sydney Design Awards) and Brisbane (Brisbane Design Awards).

Entrants can submit their projects across five categories – Marketplace, Space, Visual, Object and Experience. A wide range of sub-categories covering excellence across all design areas, such as products and furnishings, architecture, interiors, landscape design, advertising graphic design, fashion and digital media, are also featured.

In conjunction with this year’s Awards, design100 will be launching the Design Showcase and Design Annual.

Design Showcase is a touring exhibition curated from the awards program, while the Design Annual is a hardback book covering the best in Australian design, sourced from over 10 awards programs and featuring key market insights from industry leaders.

The Design Annual will be distributed to the top 1000 company CEOs, marketing managers, as well as all federal members of parliament throughout Australia. The book, featuring over 660 pages, will also be available for sale to the general public.

Open to emerging or professional design individuals or studios, students or educational institutes, both in Australia and internationally, the Awards seek to provide a central hub for marketplace recognition. Those eligible to enter include commissioners of design, creators, suppliers or promoters.

All entries must be submitted online. Shortlisted entries will then be published, allowing the marketplace and design industry to view and vote on the projects. Voting closes on 23 November.

Finalist and category winners will be determined by a judging panel, as well as industry and marketplace votes, with scores being averaged across all three respective votes. This process ensures that the Awards showcase the best of the design industry as determined by the market, industry and the panel. Finalists will be announced on 27 August.

The finalists will be the top 5 entries in each category and will be announced a month prior to the Awards Night. The winner for each category will be announced at the Awards presentations throughout October in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
