Author-architect Gianni Francione showcases a collection of new tropical residences and buildings in Bali Living.   Including more than 500 colour photographs, the coffee table book traces tropical architecture on this Indonesian island. Includes the Tirtha wedding chapels.
The brainchild of a Japanese entrepreneur, and designed by Bali-based architect Glenn Parker, Tirtha Uluwatu and the Tirtha Lahur both sit on a cliff top in Bali.
“Both projects display a modernist sensibility, but retain elements of Balinese culture and tradition. They offer a service, but also stand alone as interesting examples of contemporary-tropical architecture,” the authors write.

Write

Feed
Feed your inner child (and smash some steak) with the MC Mallet. It comes flat packed, so you can put it together before you use it. Apparently it’s also sturdy enough for wood working and furniture assembly. From $40.

Made from free-blown glass, this cup and jug is “an exploration of ergonomics” according to the website. It’s both a sculpture and a functional piece of glassware that blurs the line between art and design. From $500 Both from www.vertdesign.com.au

Fight
If you have to fight to keep your house tidy, this machine gun rack could have your back. With a place for your keys, mail and messages the gun rack is also adjustable to create a shelf of differing depths. Check out the designer Stuart Fingerhut’s website here: www.stuartfingerhut.com

Pump iron in style with the magnetic Menu dumbbells. Stylish and organically formed, they sit perfectly in your hand or on the floor – the magnets mean that they won’t roll around. Displaying them in your home will also be a constant reminder to pick them up and use them. From www.top3bydesign.com.au
