The first encyclopedia dedicated to Australian architecture has been launched, featuring 1000 entries from 200 contributors, and 500 photographs and drawings.

The Encyclopedia of Australian Architecture documents and analyses Australian architecture and architects from indigenous beginnings to colonial, modern and contemporary eras.

The 800 page book is published by Cambridge University Press, edited by the University of Melbourne’s professor of architecture Philip Goad and associate professor in architecture Julie Willis.

“It is an unprecedented look at the history of Australia through architecture,” Professor Goad said.
