Step onto the world stage Australian architects, the 2015 World Architecture Festival Awards (WAF) are now open for entries and the organisation is calling for your projects.
Dubbing themselves the ‘Oscars of Architecture’, the WAF Awards coincide with WAF, the world’s largest international architectural event. The 2015 festival will be held at Suntec in central Singapore and Australians will look on to see how our projects fair in the international awards program which is also the biggest of its kind in the world.
Australians have had great success at the WAF Awards in the past. In 2014 alone three Australian architecture firms and one Australian landscape architect received “best in category” prizes.
They included Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, Ian Moore Architects , HDR Rice Daubney and CHROFI architects as well as Taylor Cullity Lethlean landscape architects.
That followed on from 2013 when FJMT + Archimedia won the coveted World Building of the Year Award for their Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki project in New Zealand.
There are 30 category awards in the 2015 event encompassing everything from residential alteration and additions to large scale commercial buildings. Winners of category prizes receive a V2com gift certificate worth $5,000 for a press kit distribution of the project.
This year’s jury will feature nearly 50 expert panellists ranging from architects to engineers, including Australians Michael Rayner (Cox Rayner), Richard Francis Jones (FJMT), Kerry Hill (Kerry Hill Architects), Michael Heenan (Allen Jack+Cottier Architects), Ronald Hicks (HDR|Rice Daubney) and Ian Moore (Ian Moore Architects).
