Sandstone, terracotta and chocolate Roman brick are coming to play on Five Dock’s traditional established homes with a new $130 million development for the New South Wales suburb.
Designed by Bates Smart, Bosco is a new Italian village-inspired project, named after the Italian word for ‘woodland’. It consists of contemporary buildings that flow seamlessly within their garden grounds and feature large balconies defined by cascading plantings.
The residences are designed to soak up abundant sunlight and capture diverse views over the bay, leafy parklands, the city skyline, or Bosco’s own private garden setting. Some homes are oriented towards the neighbouring Storey Park, while bay-view apartments have visual access to Canada Bay via transparent glass walls and metal balustrades.
Balancing the abundance of connections with the outdoors are pivoting perforated metal screens, which provide privacy and shade where and when they are needed. A six-metre sea of perimeter landscaping and canopy of heritage figs also screen buildings from the surrounding streets.
The ‘woodland’ setting of the development has also made its mark within the apartments, which feature crafted boutique interiors inspired by the surrounding natural environment.
Veneers wrap across the kitchen cabinetry, while reconstituted stone benches, stainless steel appliances, open shelving, and copper and brass detailing inject a contemporary glamour. Wall, track and recessed LED lighting add to the ambience and mood of each unit.
Bathrooms and ensuites feature white tiles, stone mosaic floors, and metal-framed mirror cabinets for an extra dose of luxury.
A choice of two colour schemes is available for residents – ‘Bay’ features “light crispness” while ‘Park’ is “darkly dramatic”.
Construction will commence in mid 2015, to be completed by mid 2017.
