Three nominees were announced as joint First Prize winners at the inaugural edition of the Tapestry Design Prize for Architects.

Conceptualised by the Australian Tapestry Workshop to recognise works that best showcased the relationship between architecture and tapestry, the Tapestry Design Prize for Architects saw many of Australia's leading architects gather in South Melbourne recently for the announcement of the winners.

The announcement of three winners for the first prize reflected the overall quality of all entries. John Wardle Architects won for Perspectives on a Flat Surface, sharing the top honours with Kristin Green (KGA Architecture) and Michelle Hamer for Long Term Parking.

No second prize was awarded; however, the third prize went to Peter Elliott Architecture and Urban Design. Laura Martires of Index Architecture received the People’s Choice Award.

The Tapestry Design Prize for Architects is an initiative of the Australian Tapestry Workshop, the Tapestry Foundation of Australia and Creative Partnerships Australia in partnership with Architecture Media and Stylecraft.

The shortlisted entries can be viewed at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, 262-266 Park Street, South Melbourne until 26 July.
