MULTITUDES, a book that marked the 75th anniversary of HASSELL by following the development of the practice from a traditional architecture firm to a modern, international design practice, has been recognised by the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA).

Taking home an award for book design at the AGDA awards ceremony at Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), the book was designed by Fabio Ongarato Design, edited by Cameron Bruhn and published by Uro Media.

It is structured around a preface and five chapters by independent authors commissioned by HASSELL, including Elizabeth Farrelly, a regular Sydney Morning Herald columnist, and John Worthington, founder of international architecture firm DEGW.

Each chapter considers an issue or movement in design in the late 20th or early 21st centuries, and explores projects in HASSELL’s portfolio that respond to the particular issue or movement.

AGDA is a peak organisation representing the Australian graphic design industry. Its awards recognise excellence across design disciplines including branding, books, digital design and graphic design.
