Less than two months on from the announcement that he will be replacing Foster + Partners as the architect for the World Trade Centre 2 (WTC2), Bjark Ingels, Director of Bjark Ingels Group (BIG) has opened up in a video interview about the designs he has planned for New York City.

In an interview with The New York Times’s architecture critic, Michael Kimmelman, Ingels discusses three major projects that his firm will design for New York including WTC2, “West 57th Street”- a 32 storey sloped residential tower in New York City, and “The Dry Line”- a 10-mile protective system that encircles Manhattan to prevent future Hurricane Sandy-style devastation to New York.

He also discusses other challenges faced by architects including keeping up with design trends, and creating design concepts that will remain relevant once built.
